Sopore, Nov 25 (KNO): Amidst the power crisis causing inconvenience to the people in north Kashmir's Sopore, authorities anticipate a reduction in power curtailments as two more receiving stations are set to commence within the sub-division.
An official from the civil administration in Sopore informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that residents may witness a decline in power curtailments with the commissioning of two receiving stations having capacities of 6.3 MVA and 10 MVA in Seelo and Bugoo areas, respectively.
Despite the ongoing power crisis, officials said these two projects will significantly improve power supplies and provide relief to the people of Sopore.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Sopore, SA Raina, has directed the Power Development Department to ensure that power supplies adhere to the schedule and to minimise additional power curtailments that are affecting businesses and students.
Raina also urged people to use electricity judiciously to ensure the sustainable operation of the projects, given the current supply-demand dynamics.
Despite attempts to contact the Executive Engineer, STD Amargrah, there was no response.
Meanwhile, residents expressed frustration with the PDD, saying the department consistently cites low generation and high demands as excuses, and promises of better power supply have not fulfilled.
“The authorities should minimise unscheduled curtailments as we are facing significant challenges due to inadequate power supplies,” they said—(KNO)
